Research conducted in 30+ countries over the past ten years revealed that those with high cultural intelligence - otherwise known as CQ - are more equipped to handle challenges in life and work, especially considering the global nature of contemporary society ( Livermore ). Experiential approaches for CQ development have been proposed as highly effective; however, there is a lack of CQ-specific approaches in the management literature. Cultural intelligence or cultural quotient (CQ) is a term used in business, education, government and academic research. Livermore cautioned that cultural intelligence is not innate, but a developmental skill that comes with coaching, training, and dialogues. Improving our CQ serves as a way to develop skills for when the cultural context changes and enhance our interactions across cultures (e.g., national, ethnic, professional).
